              Overview

Downstream is seeking an experienced front-end developer to work on the UI of our core CMS product. This CMS delivers content to many of our on-site installations around the globe. It is a unique application adapted to suit our niche industry. We are at an exciting moment where we are expanding our team to bring polish and stability to this product.

Our development team is intentionally small which allows for plenty of opportunity to provide meaningful input and help direct the project. We are looking for someone whose convictions are backed by experience. They should be someone who brings their own ideas rather than waiting for instructions. They are not afraid to ask questions. And they have the patience to work with non-technical teams and clients.

              Role & Responsibilities

The front-end developer will work closely with the CMS team to fix bugs, add new features, and generally improve the UX of the CMS. They will need to develop an intimate understanding of the flow of data between the API and the UI which requires a strong understanding of asynchronous programming and eventual consistency patterns. We work in sprints and use a ticketing system to manage tasks, so we expect everyone to be a good communicator and transparent about the work they are doing. Occasionally, there are other projects and tools that need front-end development. There is a chance your role expands to work on those, but the CMS product is your primary focus.

These are the technologies you would be working with. Depending on your experience, it may not be critical that you have a professional history with all of these. The ideal candidate is a generalist developer with a broad and varied background.
